Frequently
Asked Questions
How soon before my wedding should I book?
It is strongly recommended that you book as soon as possible to secure
your wedding date. Our brides typically
book their wedding date 6 months in advance.
How
much do you charge?
For
the quality and caliber of our work, our pricing is very
competitive. We understand that planning a wedding can be extremely
costly and that budgets do need to be taken into consideration.
However, considering how important the bride's hair and makeup is and how
small the cost of hair and makeup services are in relation to other
aspects of the wedding, we strongly encourage you to shop your hair and
makeup services primarily on quality rather than cost. Of course, we
will be happy to discuss pricing with you over the phone. Or if you
prefer, please email us at info@haircomesthebride.com
and we will send you our price list.
Do
you offer a preview appointment?
Yes,
we strongly recommend that you book a preview appointment for your
hair and/or makeup. The preview will ensure that the wedding day
runs smoothly and that you will be completely satisfied with your
look. We recommend that you come in for a preview appointment approximately
4-6 weeks before your wedding date, although you should book your wedding
sooner than this date to ensure availability.
Can
I come in earlier than 4-6 weeks for a preview?
The
4-6 weeks is a guideline and what we have found works best.
A few of the reasons that we like to do the preview closer to the
wedding day is that your hair length and skin color will be the same, and
also, we do need to finalize all of the details including timing and
number of services, so you do need to be prepared to give us all of that
information. That being said,
the decision is up to you and you are welcome to do the preview whenever
it works for you.
Do
I have to do a preview?
It
is strongly suggested that you have a preview appointment.
If circumstances do no allow for you to have a preview, we will do
the wedding without one. We
will require a non-refundable deposit to secure the wedding date.
This deposit is applied towards your wedding day total.
What
if I do not like what you do at the preview?
One
of the most important parts of the preview is honest communication.
Our girls are wonderful and they are capable of doing any style of
hair and makeup. The stylist truly wants you to be happy and will
encourage you to be honest with her.
If you are unhappy with the preview we will assess the situation and in
many cases, offer another preview with the same or a different
stylist. That being said, in the rare
case that you are completely unhappy and you feel as though you can not
come to a resolution and/or we are unable to switch you to another
stylist, you are not obligated to use us on your wedding day.
How
does the stylist know what style is best for me?
That
is one of the great things about using a company like ours who specializes
in weddings. Part of our
stylist’s job is to help you pull your whole look together if needed.
There are so many factors that go into determining your hair and
makeup such as, your personal style, the style of your wedding, what you
are wearing in your hair, what your dress looks like, what is going to
look best on you, etc. Your stylist is going to give you options, help you
to take different things into consideration so that you can feel at ease
in your final decision.
What
type of makeup do you use?
We
use primarily MAC makeup. All
of our stylists have some other products in their kits that they like such
as Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Benefit, Chanel.
But, the majority of all of our makeup is MAC. We have found
through years of trial and error with different makeup lines, that MAC's
makeup goes
on very light and natural looking (when the right products and techniques
are used), the colors are beautiful and foundations match skin tones
perfectly, it has incredible staying power and is water proof.
What
if I never wear makeup.?
As
you can see by the pictures in our portfolio, we are known for doing very
light natural makeup. We want
to find that perfect happy medium between looking good for your pictures
and looking and feeling beautiful for your family and friends.
That is going to mean something different for everyone.
Our job is to find that perfect look for you.
Don’t
I have to wear a lot of makeup for photos?
This
is actually a very common misconception.
Yes, if you are doing studio photos under bright studio lighting,
then that is the case. But,
for natural lighting (which most wedding photography is) and/or flash
photography, a lot of makeup is not needed.
How
long will it take on the wedding day?
It
really depends on how many services you are getting done as to how much
time we allot. It is typically a three to four hour time frame
maximum for the entire wedding party.
Another great reason for going with our company is that we have the
timing down to a science. We are going to bring as many stylist and/or assistants as it
takes for us to get you done within our allotted time frame.
The bride generally takes 45 minutes per service and the girls
approximately 30 minutes per service. If you are having a very early
morning wedding, we typically like to bring more stylists if possible to
cut down on your getting ready time, therefore cutting down on your
getting up time.
How
much experience do the stylists have?
Each
girl comes to us with a little bit different experience. Honestly,
at Hair Comes the Bride we look more to a person's talent and personal
character rather than experience. Each stylist that joins our team
must pass a strict hiring process and is rigorously tested before she is
ever allowed to work with a bride.
Will
the stylist do more than one style at the preview?
Your
stylist is going to consult with you to determine which style is going to
be the best based on all of the factors.
We really do try and narrow it down to one particular style.
This is part of the stylist’s job.
If there is ever a time in which we do two different styles on a
preview it is usually when a bride is trying to decide between ½ up ½
down and all up.
Will
you come out just for bridesmaids?
Yes,
there is a 6-service minimum. We
require a non-refundable deposit in the amount of one service to secure
the wedding date. This
deposit is applied towards your wedding day total.
